During this week’s podcast, we are focusing on last minute gift ideas for mom this Mother’s Day. There are several things that you can do to make this the best Mother’s Day ever and show mom how much you love and appreciate her.

Some of our ideas will take a little work on your part and some of them are quick and easy. Whichever route you choose to take, you can be sure that mom will smile fondly and appreciate your thoughtfulness for her and her garden.

There are many different things available on the market today that will help you to give your mom a mothers day gift to use in her garden. Here are a few of the bigger ideas we had here at Her Gardening Blog:

I found this great idea for a Mother’s Day Container by P. Allen Smith. Here is some of what he has to say to help you make this fabulous gift for that special mother in your life.

For a special gift your mother will enjoy all summer long, present her with this beautiful container garden you planted yourself. I designed this simple yet stunning arrangement with just three varieties of plants so you can easily create the same gorgeous results.The super-sized blooms of the New Guinea impatiens blend perfectly with the exquisitely colored fronds of the Japanese painted fern. Cascading along the front of the container is a variegated ivy called ‘Gloire de Marengo’. Its glossy green leaves are edged in creamy white, adding just the right sparkle to this shade loving composition.Materials:
18″ diameter terra cotta pot
small piece of window screen, pot shards or large gravel
16 quart bag of potting mix blended for containers
water retentive polymers*
slow release fertilizer*
